The Sanyo PLC-XD2200 is a multimedia projector that is a suitable presentation aid if price and portability are the deciding factors. The fact that it only has a feeble 1 W speaker and no carry case may put some people off, however, it will pack easily into a case and projects clear enough for a small gathering. For laptop to wall projection it works very well and produces bright and colourful images. This is a lightweight gadget at just over 2 Kg and 2200 lumens brightness which has 3 intensity settings. The Eco mode gives each bulb about a 6,000 hour life and the standby mode will only draw 0.4 W compared to the 2 – 4 W of other projectors. The auto set up is easy to navigate and it will optimize the image quality and correct at an incline. Other technical details include 500:1 contrast, LCD technology and zoom lens ratio 1.2:1. There is a 3 years parts and labour warranty for breakdown and so all in all represents a no frills robust portable projector.
This projector almost sits on the fence with regards to functionality, on the one hand performance is adequate from the excellent contrast and colour reproduction, its portability and the infamous Sanyo support centre, the cons are no network capability, if ceiling mounted needs frequent dust filter maintenance and the audio output is just too limiting.
It is not worth writing this projector off but check the PLC-XD2200 specifications against the competition. Look online at the best deals as this is changing constantly as the sector becomes more competitive and etailers seek to shift their stocks in these hard times.
