Is PilotWings Resort for 3DS Worth the Wait?

by Mike Teller on June 29, 2011

It seems that PilotWings Resort for 3DS is largely based on the Wii Sports Resort, building on the 3D platform. Indeed, this game does have some similarities in terms of location using the Wii Wuhu Island location, but instead of designing a set of mini games in the concept, there are a two themes an explore and build theme and a mission flight theme. Both modes set a number of challenges where first you fly over the island exploring and collecting things from hidden nooks and crannies and then in mission mode you are judged by what goals you achieve from shooting down targets or getting to a certain destination.

The characters are imported from the Mii Maker and may explore Wuhu Island either by plane, hang glider or rocket belt each of which have their own array of controls enabling you to fly around in flight mode and pick up the collectibles and unlock certain features of the aircraft and monuments on the Island. If in Mission Mode, once 40 missions are completed and a certain number of stars are earned the features can also be unlocked.

The 3D doesn’t seem particularly appealing in free flight mode, however, once you need to start judging distances and t you need to manoeuvre the aircraft, the depth afforded by the 3D technology makes the games more appealing and the game worthwhile to get in 3D. For further details and Pilotwings specifications, read up online before you compare which of these new 3DS games is for you and in any case buying online at great prices is more likely.
